Wowsers!! Sooo... in an effort to get back to into top shape, I've jumped on the P90X band-wagon!! My mom and my brother were the one's to get me on it! I've had the DVD's for a while but I hadn't made the full commitment to it...until now! I'm putting it out to the universe! I'm going to achieve my goal to be in the best shape I've ever been in! I've decide to go with the Lean workout because I'm more interested in weight loss and a leaner build, rather than gaining more muscle. So that meant starting with Core Synergistics, and did I ever get my but kicked! But in a good way! I'm excited to get better by the week and to see the results!
Wow, where has the summer gone!?! August has been pretty interesting in SOOOO many ways! The highlight for me was to have the opportunity to attend the Elite Locking Camp in Las Vegas this year! Words cannot describe what it felt like to be the presence of The Original Lockers Greg Campbellock Jr and Fluky Luke, as well as Sugar Foot, and Sundance. So humble, with so much to share. There were participants from Japan, Sweden, Israel, Canada, Russia, Germany, and other parts of the United States to attend this event! I only started locking in 2008, and I have to say, that of all the dance styles I've learned and trained in, Locking has been THE HARDEST ONE FOR ME!!! The vocabulary of this style is so large, and you really have to pay attention to the details! The Lock, Which-A-Ways, Damita, Stop N' Go, The Handshake, Wrist Rolls, Points, Texas Hop, Speed Locking, Rock Steady, and the list goes on!!! I could go on forever about talking about everything I learned that weekend, but I think the most important things I learned are the history of the dance, and to just be myself! Identifying who you are, being comfortable with yourself, and not being afraid to go out there and commit yourself 100%. For so long, I've been in hiding as dancer; putting myself out there just enough to get by. But I've come to realize I haven't even scratched the surface in terms of my capabilities! The opportunities are endless and with me and dance and I can't wait to explore them all!

On day two we had Special Guest Legendary from the Soul Brothers! OG in Hip Hop dance!! He came with the swag, the character, and my favorite....PARTY DANCE!!! This class was my WORLD!! LOL! I can't say how important it is for us dancers, ESPECIALLY those who consider themselves "Hip Hop" dancers, to really sit down and know the history of this dance, and of any street dance in general. For us to progress and move forward, we need to know where these moves came from, and what the style really and truly is!
Then there was Bootcamp with Fred Realness!!! He put us in to shape alright! I know I'm guilty of not doing enough strength training as a performer, but Fred explained to us that there are bio-mechanics involved in what we do, from doing drops to coming back up! He gave some really great exercises to strengthen those parts of the body that will help us have longer and healthier lives and carreers as dancers!
Thank you so much to my Locking family for making this weekend the most intense and challenging weekend in dance I've ever had. It's been a minute since I've been around a REAL group of dancers with such positivity radiating from themselves and out to others. Like Greg says, "Locking is not a battle dance, it's a LOVE dance!", and I could definitely feel the love that whole weekend! I cannot wait until next year to do it all over again!
Check out this video that my homeboy David put together for the weekend!!

It's been while, I know, just trying to enjoy the summer as much as I can, rain and all! The past few days I've been fiddling with my computer trying to figure out how to download this commercial I shot 2 years. After much fussing, I finally got it! A commercial I shot for Sylvan Learning Centre! Was lots of fun shooting, the cast was great! I'm on the very left side of the screen in the intro and the at the end as well!!
